Chromebook cloud storage explained – Google Drive
The Chromebook does not come with much internal storage space, and this is because the Chromebook has been designed to take advantage of cloud storage.
When you buy a Chromebook you need to have a Google account. When you turn on your new Chromebook it will ask you for your Google account details, and if you don’t have a Google account you can easily set one up as part of the Chromebook set-up process.
Having a Google account means you also have access to Google Drive, which is Google’s very own cloud storage software. Google Drive is arguably the best cloud storage option available, and best of all it’s free to use.
Chromebook cloud storage explained - What is Google Drive?
Google Drive is Google’s answer to cloud storage and is seen as one of the best options for storing data in the cloud. You get 15GB of cloud storage for free when you create a Google Account, and this 15GB is shared between your emails and Google Drive.
15GB is a lot of space when you consider this is a free service. Most cloud storage companies are now charging for anything over 1GB, so Google Drive offers great value. If you need more than 15GB you can buy more storage, and this is very inexpensive. However, 15GB of space is more than enough for most users.
